St Dominic's Dagger™

Tracking Rosary.

The Story of St Dominic's Dagger™

A little over a year ago, one of our members, RD, stood in his basement holding his old Army Pace Counter, a simple tool that an Infantryman wears to keep track of his pace while doing Land Navigation. As he looked at it he thought, "what a great rosary this would make." But the idea quickly passed.  A short time later, his brother-in-law and he were talking about how it would be beneficial to have a rosary that would help keep track of every step. It would potentially make it possible to pray the rosary throughout a typical work day filled with interruptions. The conversation made RD think of his old pace counter. He got it and showed it to his brother-in-law. Over the next several months the Lord kept laying things on both of their hearts. After some procrastination and some encouragement, RD finally made a prototype, with an old Crucifix his father-in-law gave him and a Miraculous Medal his daughter had given him. This was the beginning of the St. Dominic’s Dagger™.

ABOUT THE DESIGN

This Rosary design is similar to one that was popular with men during medieval times called a “Tenner” which was composed of 10 beads or knots on a rope.
The St. Dominic’s Dagger™ however has five beads at the top for each of the mysteries and ten beads below for tracking each decade, separated by the Miraculous Medal.
This rosary design is intended to make it easier to pray the rosary more often. The beads slide allowing you to start and stop your prayer throughout the day: whether it'a to deal with interruptions or to meditate upon a mystery. There's no need to worry about losing your place.
It can also be used to keep track of your spiritual and corporal works of mercy throughout the day. St. Therese of Lisieux used to do this with a similar device.

ABOUT THE MAKERS

St. Dominic’s Dagger™ was designed by men for men. (We are grateful though for the many women who now use and love this design as well) All of the rosaries we currently have were assembled in prayer by the Brotherhood of Catholic Men as part of our monthly ministry. We really want to encourage more people to pray the rosary daily. Our Lady asks all of us to pray the rosary everyday in order to obtain peace for the world and the conversion of sinners.
All profits are donated to our local Parish exclusively to meet the needs of individual Parish Ministries. The men have generously donated their time in the assembly process.

Additional Notes:

We do our best to be professional in every aspect. This is a men's ministry effort though and not a business.
Each Dagger Rosary is made by hand so there may be some variation in loop size or length between the models
The beads may not slide easily at first but will become easier after a few uses and should be able to be moved with one hand. They should retain their relative position and not slide out of position regardless of the orientation of the rosary even after many uses.
The beads are made of wood and some flat spots or minor imperfections may be present. We are doing our best to maintain a reliable supply of each color. Our previous supplier went out of business so the current bead colors are different from those pictured in the video.
Also, we are not able to guarantee that a particular crucifix style will be available each time you order.  (We do our best to remove from the options any that are no longer available) They are made in Italy and some of these sources were disrupted by the pandemic.
Finally, if you encounter any problems with your dagger rosary or are unhappy with your purchase, please contact us and we will do our best to make things right. We want everyone using it as frequently as possible.

Thank you for making the St. Dominic's Dagger™ rosaries. It has been a good companion during this retreat.

I had received Rosary beads when I was confirmed as an adult about 30 years ago but never actually knew how to use them. St. Dominic's Dagger really intrigued me.  After receiving it, I asked my wife to show me how to pray the Rosary, and she did so with the aid of a Novena booklet that her mother had also used many years ago.  I expect to now pray the Rosary on a regular basis also with the aid of the scriptures on your website. Thank you for leading me to a new level in my faith.

I want you to know that I got the two daggers today.
I am going to keep the one with dark wood and give the other to my kids’ godfather.
I have already prayed with mine, and I absolutely love it.
I love the physicality of it. I love sliding the beads. I love being able to keep up with where I’m at. I love being able to look at it and see that I’ve completed it. It is awesome!
I hope my dagger lasts forever, so I can have it with me every day.
Thank you so much!!

I am very pleased with the Saint Dominic dagger as I use it at home sometimes while sitting here watching TV.
I use it sometimes when I go out in the car and carry it with me and I can track where I am on my rosary if I have to stop for something.
And when I go out for my daily walk to get exercise I carry it with me. So it is quite useful and very adaptable in different areas of my life.
